About us

What do we get out of the Outlook Group?

We are a friendly and relaxed friendship group for older people to get together every week over a cup of tea/coffee (and biscuits!) and we enjoy a wide variety of activities.

The Outlook Group is a great way to catch up with friends or to meet new friends for a chat. We regularly invite guest speakers, and there are opportunities to join in bingo, quizzes, games and sing-songs. But there’s no obligation to join in if you don’t wish to; you can just watch, listen and laugh.

We have outings to restaurants, garden centres, shopping centres and other places of interest. Occasionally we get a fish and chip lunch ibrought in, always a popular event. We also hold a free Christmas Party for members each year.

Tabletop sales and raffles boost our funds which are used to hire the Palace each week, to help subsidise the transportation costs for outings, and to be able to offer our speakers a fee. A small weekly fee of £3.00 is payable, £5.00 if we have a guest speaker. Outings and meals out are priced separately.

Age UK tell us that socialising helps relieve stress and is extremely good for our mental health and well-being. And to help with that, we are always looking for people with new ideas for group activities, so do come and give us a try. We love meeting new people and you will be made very welcome by our existing friendly members
